Lorenzo Brufani


Graduated with honours in Political Science at LUISS University in Rome.

Journalist with experiences in CNN America and TG4 Mediaset.

In 1995 he started working for the Communication Division of Rome Airports working on internal communication and media relations projects.

Senior Account for three years in Burson-Marsteller Rome, where he supervised media relations, educational campaigns, special events and alliance building projects for the EU and the Insurance Company INA Assitalia.

He joined Ketchum PR Milan as Account Director managing the Walt Disney Company team.

He then worked for 5 years for Cohn and Wolfe as Account Director and New Business Manager, overseeing the Corporate Division (10 professionals) and reporting directly to the CEO. Visa and Coca-Cola are among the clients for whom he was in charge of media relations and events.

In over 15 years of experience he devised and managed communication plans and events for over 50 companies, institutions and associations such as: ANIA, Agos, Castrol, Cofely-GDFSuez, Conad, Coca-Cola, Gi Group, Hasbro, Henkel, LinkedIn, Kellogg Italia, Symantec, SEAT PG, Samsung, Spumador, Unes, Verizon, Vivendi Games and Warner Bros.

Head of Media Relations at Borsa Italiana, the Italian Stock Exchange.

Since 2002 he lectures and teaches communication at IlSole24ORE Business School and IED Communication.

He founded Competence in 2005 and as Managing Director he is in charge of the conception of strategic plans in integrated communication, media relations, crisis communication and training and coaching.

He was the Italian Spokperson for TripAdvisor, the largest travel community in the world, from 2008 to 2013.

Tomaso Bonazzi

A Political Science graduate, Tommaso started his career in the strategic consulting firm AT Kearney in the Information Research Center.

In 2003, he started working for the communication agency Meta Comunicazione, handling clients such as Nintendo, San Pellegrino and Nescafè.

In 2004, he moved to Pepe, Rossi & Partners, taking care of international product press office for companies like Panasonic Mobile Communications, Dell Computers, BMW, Reebok and institutional clients such as Fondazione Italiana Accenture, GEFCO e the Swiss Tourist Board.

Over the last 5 years he has had the opportunity to work with the Electrolux Group as coordinating head of public relations for South Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey), implementing communication projects to strengthen the brand reputation and support product launches.

Since 2006 he has also been a freelance journalist and food blogger. In February 2013, Tommaso joined Competence as Consumer Senior Account, managing clients like Edenred and TotalErg and developing new business strategies.

Laura Maini

With several years of experience in the world of communication, Laura has a solid background in strategic consultancy and multi-channel communication in various business sectors. As communication director in Federlegno Arredo Eventi, she coordinated the Group's communication in all their business segments: FederlegnoArredo, trade association representing approximately 2000 member companies in the wood-furniture supply chain; Salone del Mobile.Milano, including the Shanghai and Moscow editions; Made expo, projects promoting the “Made in Italy” trademark abroad in collaboration with ICE and MISE.

She previously held the role of Managing Director - and before that of Brand Marketing Manager - at the Italian branch of Ketchum, the multinational Public Relations Network.

In her professional career she has consolidated relationships with influencers and stakeholders, handling Corporate & Brand Communication, CSR and acting as advisor to CEOs and business leaders. In Competence she holds the position of Senior Strategic Advisor, consulting for clients such as AssoBirra, Arborea, Affidea and contributing to the development of new business activities.

Federica Bochicchio

Federica has twenty years of experience in communication and a solid international background. She graduated with honors in Communications at Emerson College in Boston and in 1996 she earned a Master’s Degree in Global Marketing Communications at the University’s European branch in Brussels.

She achieved professional expertise in Corporate and Consumer PR working for international networks such as Burson Marsteller, Cohn & Wolfe, Edelman and Fleishman-Hillard. She also worked as a consultant at the International Relations Department of RAI, the Italian National TV Network, for the Co.Pe.A.M. project (Mediterranean Television).

Over the years she has managed the organization of educational campaigns for Coca-Cola, INA ASSITALIA and AZ (Procter & Gamble). For P&G she also contributed to the launch of the Pantene beauty line, the Dash Essential pan-European campaign, the Bolt 2in1 detergent, Iams petfood and Pringles, for which she handled trade and consumer campaigns, events and promotional operations.

She honed her skills in Crisis Communication by editing the Crisis Management Manual and assisting in the organisation of training sessions for the Rinascente Group and by collaborating in the drafting of the Millennium Bug Crisis Plan for Findus (SAGIT-Unilever).

In 2006 she partnered Lorenzo Brufani in opening Competence, initially working for customers in the Kids segment, such as Hasbro and Activision, and then for TripAdvisor and MiPAF (Italian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Policies).

Currently she is in charge of Internal Communications, managing the editorial and multimedia projects and Employee Engagement activities for the Generali Group. She also supports the Agency's teams in designing communication plans, optimising presentations and handling the copywriting activities.

Bilingual in Italian and English, she has a good command of French and German.

Roberta Aliberti

Graduated with honours in Literature at the University of Genoa in 1999, Roberta specialized in journalism with the Journalist's Order of Lombardy and has been a Freelance contributor since 2006.

She began her career in 2000 in Mediacom (Alessandria), as PR account handling the press office activities for local public administration companies such as Politecnico di Alessandria, ASCOM (local traders' association) and AMIU (local municipal waste and garbage disposal company).

In 2002 Roberta became PR Account Executive for SCM, a Milan-based PR agency, where she was in charge of Media Relations for the 'Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo'.

Roberta then became Senior Account for DAG Communication, a PR and corporate communication agency in Milan, where for 5 years she was in charge of Media Relations, Crisis Management, editorial projects, and Events Management for clients such as the Ministry for the Environment, Intergraph Corporation, Tagetik, ORS Group (Private Banking), Micheal Page International, Assores, and Shenker.

In 2007 Roberta joined Competence as Corporate Senior Account, in charge of integrated communication projects and Financial/Trade/IT Media Relations for key customers such as Gi Group, Quercia Software (Unicredit Group), FDM and Henkel, for whom she also developed internal communication plans and brand reputation campaigns.

Currently she supervises Media Relations and Crisis Management for Cofely Italy, the GDF-Suez Group company in the energy sector.
